Free stuff?
Hi, so out of nowhere in game somebody comes up to me and offers me a free sword and armor. For free. No catches. From Cantha (my char is currently in the core game). Looks like ok stuff.
Before I use any of this stuff, I just wanted to make sure this wasn't some scam, somehow, like the stuff is cursed. It's sad, somebody does something nice ingame, and the first thing I think is "I'm being tricked". When I asked the guy what the deal was, he just said "Courtesy of BRA" (which I assume is a guild). |

I do this sometimes when I get something that I think is nice or has a cool skin and don`t want to trash it. If your only going to get pennies at the merchant why not pass it along if someone can use it. I always tell them to Pay Forward.

I have done this before as well, stuff that I don't need and isn't really that useful but to a low level toon is nice.
I've gone back to Ascalon or Piken Square and sent out a "Free max staff + axe for characters under level 10" and given them away to the first qualified toons. I've also had a level 20 necro come up and ask to see them and when I said they are plain/blue items and not for him he called me a rude name and left. Like a level 20 needs a plain max fire staff? |

I do this pretty often, I'd say about once or twice a week. Whenever I come across something that is cool but I either don't feel like trying to sell it or don't want to merchant it I go find some newbie and give it to them. I never announce it though - I just wander around places like Ascalon City and find a low-level toon of a type suitable for the item. Then I whisper them and ask if they need whatever it is (pssst, hey, need a sword?).
It's surprising how hard it can be sometimes to get an answer. I stopped announcing free stuff after giving something to someone, only to see them 5 seconds later spamming general chat trying to sell it. |

[BRA] Giveaways are common and legit. They are a guild and they give away a lot of near-max/near-perfect stuff pretty frequently.
